What is the influence of parents' myopia on their children's myopic progression? A 22-year follow-up study.

Purpose To study the connection between parental myopia and their children's myopia from school age to adulthood. Methods Two hundred and forty myopic schoolchildren (119 boys, 121 girls, mean age 10.9 years) with no previous spectacles for myopia were recruited to a 3-year treatment trial with different use of spectacles. Follow-ups were performed at mean ages of 13.9, 23.7 and 33.2 years for 238, 176 and 170 subjects respectively. Subjective refraction was calibrated to the spherical equivalent at corneal level (SEcor). Corneal refractive power (CR) and axial length (AL) were measured. The acquisition of lying is a complex developmental process, where linguistic, cognitive, emotional and moral aspects are intertwined. It is shown that this developmental process is reflected in children’s literature. Since lying is indeed a very important topic in children’s literature, as is shown with regard to children’s books ranging from picture books to books for children in school age to books for young adults, we argue that this topic cannot be well understood when these developmental aspects are not taken into consideration.

Īpaši ar Covid-19 tiek uzlabota elektronisko ierīču lietošana īpaši skolas vecuma bērniem, kuri ar e-mācībām daudzas stundas dienā pavadīja, izmantojot datorus, lai pētītu, palielinot jau tuvredzības laikā esošo astenopisko simptomu nopietnību. Izmantojot +0,50D atkarību skolas vecuma bērniem (8-16 g.v.) ar ezoforiju tuvredzības stāvoklī 45 dienas, mēs varam ievērojami samazināt šo simptomu skaitu, kā arī varam pamanīt foorijas samazināšanos. Izmantojot šo metodi, pacientam var būt ērta redze tuvumā un uzlabota veiktspēja datora lietošanas un studiju laikā.

Epistemic governance in local policy debates : The case of entitlement to early childhood education and care in Finland

In Finland, children below school age have enjoyed the right to attend subsidised full-time early childhood education and care (ECEC). However, the attendance rate in Finland is low in comparison to other Nordic countries. Furthermore, the entitlement was restricted to 20 h per week in 2016 unless the child’s parents work or study full-time or unless it is believed that the child will benefit from full-time ECEC. The debates concerning restrictions in ECEC entitlement in three municipal councils serve as the data for this study. Trajectories of reading development: A follow-up from birth to school age of children with and without risk for dyslexia

In order to understand why some children are vulnerable to difficulties in their language development and their acquisition of reading skill, the Jyväskylä Longitudinal Study of Dyslexia followed 200 Finnish children from birth to school age. Half of these children had a family history of reading problems and were considered at risk for dyslexia; the other half were not at risk. A novel analysis, mixture modeling, revealed four subgroups with differential developmental trajectories to early reading. Aesthetic factors determining quality and comfort in childhood classroom

This study analyses how school age children experience their educational environment. The objective is to collect the determining factors of aesthetic quality and comfort at school. A pluralistic methodology allows: gather both quantitative and qualitative data using photographic elicitation, and show the responses on an artistic way. Eighty-six children participate on this research; they are from 3 until 5 years old, and belong to rural and urban schools of Alicante.
